Raf Simons is a master of design, innovative and interesting with flawless execution. He is at ease in youth culture yet has immaculate designs in tailored suiting.
He is modern at his very core and that is a wonderful and oft too rare quality in a designer. Fashion as we all know is a repeat and a ‘nod’ to this era or that. Raf takes things that are common and reawakens in them wonder and enchantment.
Raf Simons is also very interesting to me because of his connection to one of my all time favorite menswear inspired designers, Jil Sander. I remember when I was a younger Dandi loving everything that she designed. She was one of the only women’s wear designers whose clothes I wanted to buy.
And though her menswear kept me quite happy (one of my favorite pair of pants was a rose corduroy number by her) she taught me that I didn’t always have to shop in the Dandi department to feel like one. And though she is no longer at the helm, Raf Simons continues to give the brand life and immaculate surprises.
I love the purple outerwear btw!
