Shedding Winter

It’s hard to believe that some parts of the country are still shedding the signs of winter, but there is one sure-fire way to feel better about any delays…go shopping for Spring!
Here are some ideas to get you started for May…
Overalls are back. You can accessorize these with a T-shirt and for those of you that are daring, nothing at all.

A good high-top would be great with either long-pant overalls or short-pant overalls. Here’s a nice basic black pair from Common Projects

The origins of the word “cocktail” are lost to history, but the first definition we find in print comes from an 1806 newspaper from upstate New York. A cocktail is called “a stimulating liquor, composed of spirits of any kind, sugar, water, and bitters…” Over the course of the 19th century, the cocktail picked up a number of additions and refinements: liqueurs, fortified wines, various bits of garnish, et cetera. Eventually, some drinkers came to prefer a simpler form of cocktail, the type their grandfathers might have enjoyed, and so they’d ask the bartender to make them an “old-fashioned” cocktail, of booze, sugar muddled into water to form a syrup, and bitters. (PB NOTE: using flavored bitters can really spice up this traditional cocktail as well as trying different types of citrus)

It’s time to get rid of the wear and tear of winter with a good hand cream. (Men’s Society)

Though I am a spring baby and always look forward to shedding layers when that time rolls around, loving fashion as I do, I admit that there is no better time for putting your best style foot forward than in the fall and winter months.

If you can ;ayer like this and not look like a stuffed turkey I say go for it!

ANTM’s British Invasion – Azmarie

Ooo – la-la!!  Azmarie is hot by anyone’s standards and she was last nights winner of America’s Next Top Model.    Every season Tyra tries to stir things up with a bi-sexual or lesbian but this season she definitely out did herself with Azmarie.  Even my sweetie has a little crush on her (and if she were my type I wouldn’t be able to resist either.)

You know I love androgyny so I absolutely love Azmarie’s look.  She was clearly born that way.  Her pouty lips and intrinsic personal style are almost too hot for television.

I was scared for her last week because she did not deliver on her photograph and I was afraid that despite her gorgwa-ness she wasn’t going to be able to make  it work on camera.

But she more than made up for it this week and brought not only delivered a not picture but also brought  it as a leader and creative director (though I also think she excelled because she loved being able to touch all the ladies!) 🙂

My household is rooting for you Azmarie.  I hope you get to be crowned America’s Next Top Model.  We all will be well represented.

Snow White and The Huntsman

Last night I went to go see the opening night of Mission: Impossible -Ghost Protocol, sadly there were only 10 of us in a theatre that holds 400, and perhaps even sadder the best part of the movie was the preview for Snow White and The Huntsman.

The graphics and fashion are IN-credible and the story looks rich with great actors and darkness in all the right ways, and oh did I mention how amazing Charlize Theron looks.  My sweetie and I went to see Young Adult (which was sold out) last week and it is a delightfully quirky and often just down right sad betrayal of a person stuck in her high school glory days.  And now I get to see her all fantastically Queenish and evil to boot.

I have yet to see the latest installment of Twilight but have plans to do so before the near year dawns, that said I was excited to see Kristen Stewart as Snow White (well maybe not after having a Vampire’s baby -lol) and

Chris Hemsworth.  I love fairy tales and I love them done in Dolby sound.  Can’t wait to see this movie.

Freja Beha

Ranked as one of the top models and still Karl Lagerfeld’s muse (despite the rumors) Freja Beha Erichsen is not only one of the hardest working models in the business but also a proud and out lesbian.

Her haunting betrayals of pure androgyny grace the pages of Vogue and her statuesque body walks the runways for such greats as Tom Ford (and you know my feelings about him), Balenciaga, Jil Sander just to name a few.

So inspiring to designers that she even has the pleasure of having several fashion items named after her.  The Jill Stuart Freja handbag, the Chloe Freja clutch and even footwear from one of me sweetheart’s favorite designers, the Freja Lace-Up Stelleto Boot by Alexander Wang.

Born in Denmark and discovered on the streets of  her hometown by a agent passing by in a taxi (amazing) Freja has been in the fashion world since 2005 and there is no evidence that her star is anything but on the way up!
